These are by far the two most popular browsers in use. Both Mozilla and Microsoft just released their new versions, so why not start a debate?
Well, Tech experts, start your debate!

I would totally start this off...but I'm not a techy. But i'll put my insight in..i think that Firefox is more creative than IE in that it has a lot of useful side tools which IE just can't match. However, as far as the two go in comparison, it's up for grabs from a techy.
Mozilla Firefox pwns , only that ie is good for clicking thats all
I have so far avoided upgrading my IE, Is there any problems with it that anyone is having?

No problems at all. I'm using it at home and at work and I'm finding it very stable and relable so far, I haven't found a single application or website that won't work with it yet, which I admit is a pleasant surprise becuase I was finding that beta versions as recently as July were bollocks.
That said, I'll be installing it across a few hundred desktops next week, ask me again after that ;)
Any problems, jaketo?

No problems whatsoever, if anything it's more stable than IE6 and more useable. I'm liking it and I've upgraded all my computers now. I haven't found a single website or web app that works under IE6 that doesn't work under IE7. I'd say go for it if you're waiting for feedback first.
For the techies amongst us - at work I now have it running well over a few hundred desktops, it deployed well using WSUS, it's much more manageable with GP on an AD too, which is cool if you manage a restricted estate.
The livestock seem to like it and have adjusted well so it must be doing something right :D
ok I will go for it :)

Isn't that just cause the livestock likes everything that looks more cuddly?! :P

Basically yes and they don't like anything that changes too much either. They don't want much from a tool like this, other than for it to work and look nice, so for them IE7 is 'nice'. :p

can anyone help me?
i want to get more soldiers but in phoenix i can only vote like 800 a day!
is there another clicker?
EDIT - This post is just so far from where it might actually be of some use that I was just going to delete it, but I thought that would be overly harsh.
Instead, I'll suggest posting in the Clicktools thread here (http://www.phoenixrising.at/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7) where you might get an answer, or you could just try reading around a little first.

lol that was a totally random post......but back to topic. I think they both have good parts, and bad parts. But i think firefox has less bad parts. But the new Ie7 is pretty good comparitievely to the old Ie.

Ok, so I upgraded to IE7...Big mistake...It SUCKS, BADLY - on my computer anyway. Can't clink for the lag, and everytime it launches it all but locks everything up fer about 30 seconds. Is there any way to uninstall IE7!?!?!?!?
EDIT - We already have a discussion thread for IE7 so I've merged this thread into it. General consensus seems to be that IE7 is a big step up from IE6 and most users seem happy with it. What exactly is happening for you Slayer? /J

Oops, sorry. And, when I launch it it'll lock everything up until the page completly loads, which can be very annoying. And, when it comes it clicking - It takes over TEN minutes just to load the pages, then after they are loaded it lags so much yer lucky to get 100 clicks in 20 minutes - In which time I could have before been done. So, I was wondering, is there any way to uninstall it so I can click agian?
EDIT: WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! Got it fixed :D Well, I can't really say I "fixed" it I rather...made it work :p Went and disabled ALL of the IE Add-ons and now she works like a dream!!!! Spead it up by a factor of over x10!!! Went from a 10~15 minute load time, that is assuing that it didn't freeze up and die all together, down to ~1 minute

Firefox is far more secure than IE in many ways, my advice would be this:
If you like IE, and have IE6, do NOT upgrade to IE7. If your IE6 works fine, great. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. IE as a whole has always been buggy, especially new releases. I'm an experienced programmer, so I can definately say that Firefox is better than both, but IE6 is "ok".
So avoid IE7 alltogether, and if you want, upgrade to Firefox or even Opera

A very bold and subjective statement, care to back it up with some facts?
IE as a whole has always been buggy, especially new releases.
I disagree, and considering there hasn't been a major new release of IE since IE6 in 2000 there's not exactly much of a recent precedence upon which to base that statement.
I'm an experienced programmer, so I can definately say that Firefox is better than both, but IE6 is "ok".
Again, care to back that up with some facts? ;)

i've been wondering something... which browser do u prefer jaketo? and why?
u argue for both sides, but i never see u say which one u like better.

Firefox by miles. It has tool bars that I find are more useful than the ones on IE and it is made by a company solely devoted to creating Browsers/Email. IE only has clicking, and it probably won't even have that much longer. Also, you missed out what I see to be the 2nd best browser. What about Opera?

i use ff2, IE7 and Opera9.
FF is my first choice, but some pages need IE, so i have to use it sometimes. Opera does have problems with some homepages that run in ff, but on the other hand there are pages that just load in Opera for me :p
for me ff is the fastest browser and im simply used to it as i like tabbed browsing, this is my reason to use mainly firefox...

Hehehe, good question :)
Personally I have always used prefered IE. For me it does what I want it to do as a browser, and it fits well into the Windows environment which I use predominantly.
Professionally I manage and support a large number of Windows PCs and IE is much easier for me to manage and deploy centrally, so I can restrict the livestock in what they can configure and do with IE, and you can't do that with other browsers on a Windows platform.
After lots of testing I've upgraded my main PCs (work and home) to IE7 and I'm in the process of upgrading all the Windows PCs for which I'm responsible at work. Regardless of previous comments, there are a number of features in IE7 that make it much more secure than IE6 which is A Good Thing. The tabbed browsing is an interesting addition but I can do without it to be honest. In fact, I really can't see what the all the hype as about tabbed browsing in FF or IE - one window with multiple daughter windows or multiple windows? Big deal ;)
But anyway, that's just my opinion :)
As the Tech Disc mod, in discussive threads like this my preference is to encourage reasonable, productive and enjoyable debate from anyone who wants to join in. Issues like 'Prefered Browser' are very subjective and everyone's entitled to contribute their opinion, which hopefully they can reinforce with a reason or two.
Cheers

ok, 1 last question. which browser would u say has better security? firefox 2.0 or Internet Explorer 7.0?

Hehehe, can't answer that one as easily as you might like ;)
In general, for a standalone PC running Windows XP, I would say IE7 is the most secure. It is built totally from scratch with no leftovers from IE6 at all and has lots of good fearures to protect the home user, mainly geared towards preventing a remote user or website from executing code on your PC. FF is good, but as it's not made by the same vendor as the operating system it'll always be at a disadvantage.
When running under Windows Vista, IE7 will definitely be the best, due to the way it fits in tightly with the Operating System, running in a reduced user context etc.
(There's other reasons when running it in a large commercial operation too, but I shan't go into those here ;))
I'm not an irrational MS-phile and have no particular loyalty to them, but talking to some of their security team at their UK office earlier this year they're taking security very seriously and I'm encouraged by that.
